Flagship corrosion preventive compound now qualified under the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) benchmark specification for low-VOC corrosion prevention and control products
GARLAND, TEXAS — Corrosion Technologies, manufacturer of the CorrosionX line of corrosion prevention products, today announced that its flagship formula, CorrosionX (red label / marine), has been qualified to MIL-PRF-16173E, Class II, Grades 2, 3, and 5.
The qualification confirms that CorrosionX meets the U.S. Department of Defense's performance requirements for low-VOC corrosion preventive compounds across three distinct film types in a single formula: Grade 2 soft-film protection for machinery, instruments, and bearings; Grade 3 water-displacing protection for corrodible surfaces exposed to water or saline intrusion; and Grade 5 low-pressure steam-removable protection for applications requiring fast, thorough film removal. Class II status confirms the formula's VOC content falls at or below 2.8 pounds per gallon, meeting the specification's low-VOC threshold.
Qualifying under three grades simultaneously distinguishes CorrosionX from single-grade competitors in the corrosion preventive compound category and reflects the versatility that has defined the product since its introduction to aviation, marine, and industrial markets.
