CorrosionX® Corrosion Prevention Compound, Lubricant and Penetrant
CorrosionX is a single fluid that stops corrosion, lubricates under load, frees seized fasteners and protects electronics from moisture. It is qualified to U.S. Navy specifications MIL-PRF-16173E Class II (NAVSEA) and MIL-PRF-81309H Type II and MIL-PRF-81309H Type IV (NAVAIR), contains zero VOCs, and is made in Garland, Texas. Operators in aviation, marine, military, industrial and electronics applications use it where ordinary sprays wash off or fail.
Military Specification Qualifications
CorrosionX is qualified under both NAVAIR and NAVSEA performance requirements for corrosion prevention and control — the only product in the world that holds both. It is also the only retail product that meets the Navy's "advanced grade" requirement, MIL-PRF-81309H Type IV.

How CorrosionX Works
CorrosionX uses two proprietary technologies. Polar Bonding™ creates a strong molecular attraction between the fluid and the metal surface, so the film cannot be easily displaced by water, pressure or friction. Fluid Thin Film Coating (FTFC™) keeps that film ultra-thin, self-healing and dielectric.
The result is a surface that behaves more like a noble metal such as gold or platinum. CorrosionX displaces moisture and existing corrosion from the metal, stops it from spreading, and protects iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass and bronze without paint or wax.
Corrosion Protection
CorrosionX protects any metal surface in saltwater, coastal and industrial environments. Its dielectric film also shuts down galvanic corrosion (electrolysis) between dissimilar metals. A light application on outboard power heads, generators and engines – once a year in saltwater or every other year in fresh water – keeps them protected in continuous marine exposure.
Lubrication
Because Polar Bonding holds the film to the metal, CorrosionX keeps lubricating under extreme loads, high temperatures, rain and sea spray that displace conventional spray lubricants. In ASTM D4172 four-ball wear testing, CorrosionX produced a wear scar (the smaller the scar, the better) of 0.249 mm versus 2.72 for B'Laster or 0.51 mm for WD40 Specialist [link to test data]. Use it on sheaves, hinges, locks, wire rope, windlasses, fishing reels, firearms and any metal part that needs lubrication.
Penetration
CorrosionX wicks into tight threads and rust layers quickly. Corroded nuts, bolts and fittings typically break free within minutes, and fasteners that appear permanently seized can often be returned to service. Its capillary action is strong enough to climb a vertical 3" bolt against gravity.
CorrosionX penetrates so amazingly, it can defy gravity
Electronics Protection
CorrosionX displaces moisture from circuit boards, connectors and terminals and seals it out with a self-healing dielectric film rated above 39,000 volts (ASTM D877). The film is thin enough that it does not interfere with electrical contact or heat dissipation. It is standard practice on marine battery terminals and a mission-critical treatment for drones, avionics and RC equipment.
Zero VOC
CorrosionX contains zero volatile organic compounds. Many spray lubricants are 50% or more solvent; WD-40's current Safety Data Sheet lists 24.5% VOC (SDS dated November 13, 2024). Zero VOC means less solvent exposure for technicians and simpler compliance in VOC-regulated states.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
CorrosionX® is the most advanced and effective corrosion prevention compound, lubricant and penetrant in the world! Although it may look similar to other oil-based anti-corrosion sprays, CorrosionX utilizes revolutionary Polar Bonding™ and Fluid Thin Film Coating (FTFC™) technologies that together do far more than merely slow down the corro sion process like those so-called 'corrosion inhibitors'. CorrosionX actually disrupts rust and corrosion on the molecular level (displacing it from the metal surface and keeping it from spreading), and provides long-term protection against rust and corrosion on any metal surface.
CorrosionX is the only retail product that meets the U.S. Navy's tough new "advanced grade" corrosion prevention and control performance requirement MIL-PRF-81309H Type IV. CorrosionX is also the only product in the world that is qualified under both NAVAIR and NAVSEA performance requirements for corrosion prevention and control. There is quite simply no other product so thoroughly evaluated and proven to excel in the marine and other challenging corrosive environments.
Due to Polar Bonding, CorrosionX causes common metals and metal alloys such as iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze, etc. to chemically behave more like noble metals such as gold and platinum, which are highly resistant to oxidation. CorrosionX also has a dielectric characteristic, so not only is it safe on electronics, CorrosionX shuts down electrolysis between dissimilar metals. Use CorrosionX wherever you want corrosion control without paint or wax coatings. A light spray of CorrosionX on power heads, gensets and engines a couple of times a year will keeping them looking like new – even in saltwater and coastal environments.
Safe On Electronics
Water and electronics don't mix. Until now, there haven't been many options for protecting or restoring electronics from moisture intrusion. CorrosionX's unique Polar Bonding Fluid Thin Film Coating (FTFC) technology displaces moisture and seals it out with a self-healing high dielectric coating. Even though CorrosionX has a dielectric property in excess of 39,000 volts, because it forms an ultra-thin film it does not interfere with electronics or heat dissipation. A must for all marine battery terminals, and a mission critical product for drones and all Remote Control hobbyists.
Minimal Environmental Impact Product
The volatile organic content (usually abbreviated as VOC or VOCs) of CorrosionX is now ZERO. Compare that to most products in the spray lubricant category, which can be 50% or more VOC (for example, according to their current Safety Data Sheet, WD-40 is 49.5% solvent). That means CorrosionX is gentler on you, your equipment and the environment.

A Breakthrough Lubricant
CorrosionX's unique formulation offers a multitude of advantages over conventional spray lubricants. Because it sticks to metal like a magnet, it cannot be easily displaced by pressure, friction or moisture. It lubricates under extreme loads and high temperatures. Not only does CorrosionX lubricate better, it lasts many times longer! This is especially true in outdoor, coastal and marine environments where direct exposure to rain and sea spray will quickly displace ordinary lubricants.
Use CorrosionX on sheaves, hinges, locks, cable/wire rope, windlasses or any metal part needing lubrication.
An Unbeatable Penetrant
CorrosionX penetrates faster and further than any penetrating fluid you've ever used! Corroded or rusted nuts, bolts or fittings can usually be disassembled within minutes. Even items you believe to be hopelessly seized can usually be saved and returned to service.
